OUCH! Cameron County and District 9 may be without one of its top wrestlers for the rest of the year. Senior 189-pounder Seth Fragale, third in the PIAA state Class AA championships last year, is out with a knee injury that may end his scholastic career.
A district and Northwest Region champion a year ago when he was 38-2, Bickford injured the knee during warmups prior to the Red Raiders' dual with Port Allegany. He then missed last weekend's Juniata Tournament.
"He's had trouble with that knee off and on for three years," said CC coach Larry McGraw. "I guess now he's just aggravated more to the point he can't wrestle. But we're still waiting final word, although it doesn't look real promising."
Fragale (76-18 career) was 18-1 on the season with his only loss coming in the final of the Warren Tournament, 7-3, to Meadville's Class AAA Northwest Regional champion Dusty Heist.
His brother Luke was a state heavyweight champion a year ago.
The loss is just one of many McGraw has has to deal with this year. Also missing from the lineup have been John Bickford, who opted not to come out this season, and heavyweight Garrett Zoschg and 171-pounder Gideon Hornung, both of who left the team.
Hornung's departure came as a suprised after he had won 24 matches last year and placed third at the D-9 tournament as a freshman.

In addition to Seth Fragale, District 9 may be without another one of its stars - Ridgway senior Chris Shilk (25-1). The Elker 145-pounder and returning D-9 runner-up has also suffered a knee injury that could keep him out the lineup. It's also a blow that severely jeopardizes the Elkers' chances for a team title.
