At Rocky Grove, Joel Atkins and Jason Bartlett won their weight classes and
led Iroquois to a third-place finish Saturday at the Rocky Grove Tournament.
Atkins won the heavyweight division and Bartlett won at 171 pounds to lead
eight Braves who finished fourth or better. Adam Kuhn (130) and Jeremy Smith
(189) were second.
"It's starting to gel," Braves coach Mike Williams said. "We knew how tough
the kids were. We figures where the kids would finish, and they did."
Rocky Grove won the team title with 166 points, and Sharpsville finished
second. Iroquois had 106.2 points. A-C Valley was fourth, 2.5 points behind
Coach Ron Haywood's Sharpsville Blue Devils finished second in the tounament
hehind Rocky Grove. The host team had 192, while Sharpsville had 122.
Iroquois was third at 106.5.
Grabbing firsts for the Devils were Tim Findley (112) Nicholas Hunt (145)
and Shane Buckana (189). Hunt was named the tournaments's Most Outstanding
Seconds went to David Schreckenghost (103), Ryan Jones (125) and Ian Brown
(160). Mike Rowe (130) finished third.
Larry Hermrmann (135) went 1-1, while Josh Daniels (152) and Tom Findley
(171) were 0-2.
