Bisons belt Bradford

BRADFORD - The Clearfield wrestling lost three of the first four weights on Tuesday night in the dual meet opener at Bradford, but the Bisons recorded seven pins from there and rolled to a 57-21 victory.

After Dustin Clark's win at 140 to begin the meet, the Owls would record two falls and an overtime win to take a 15-3 lead. But then the Bisons reeled off seven straight bout wins to take a 45-15 lead.

Scott Hall (171), Dave Richards (189), Jonathan Graham (215), Jon Altemus (Hwt) and Brad Pataky (112) won by fall in the run, while Chris Bloom (103) and Tommy Barger (119) won by forfeit. Kevin Pataky (130) and Luke Durant (135) would close out the match with pins.

"I think we came out a little bit flat," Clearfield Coach Jeff Aveni said. "I'm disappointed that we wrestled in the style Bradford wanted to wrestle us with. I was surprised with some of their talent. I'm happy with the performances of (Brad) Pataky, Hall and Durant."

Dan Sayers (130) and Jake Trivitt (152) won their junior varsity bouts. The Bisons are back in action on Saturday at Philipsburg-Osceola.
